Our business competitors can "make" us or "break" us.
A day comes when you open your office window, either a physical window or a "social media" window, doesn't matter, and you see a new business has opened up in your locality, selling similar products to yours.
Your heart sinks for a while. And your mind keeps murmuring,
"Why have they come here?"
"Now our customers will split?"
"My sales will come down to half?"
"How will I survive?"
These thoughts keep you awake at night.
You are talking to a client, and these thoughts are still there in the background.
"What if he ditches me and buys from them"?
This is where our competitors can "break" us. They haven't done anything to us in reality.
It's just that our nervous system has no idea how to deal with this uneasy feeling in our hearts.
It's an uncharted territory. A mental block, we never knew we had, that surfaced and amplified because of a new competition in the market.
How to deal with this?
This is where our competitors can "make" us part begins.
Now that we are aware of the unknown mental block that's making us anxious, we first need to learn to relax our nervous system from this block.
Be a silent observer of these anxious thoughts.
Whenever they pop in your head, consider it a trigger to be conscious that it's your scared nervous system trying to protect you and make you feel secure.
Do not analyze, observe.
This simple act of observation will relax your nervous system.
And when our nervous system is relaxed, we think clearly.
Use this clarity space to shift your focus from your COMPETITORS to your CUSTOMERS.
Understand that there are two types of customers...
(A)-Customers who are looking for convenience and a good experience from a business.
(B)-Customers who come because they like you or your business and,
(C)-Customers who are just looking.
Now,
Your (B)-Customers are loyal and will always stick with you.
Next, identify your (A)-Customers and focus on improving their convenience and buying experience.
If you do it right, your (A)-Customers will turn into your loyal (B)-Customers.
That's how your loyal customer base will keep increasing.
They will form the concrete foundation of your business's cash flow and reputation.
Now tell me, if you relax your nervous system and calmly build this stable foundation, do you still think you'll be worried when a new competitor comes to your town?
That’s all for this week.
See you next Saturday.
